Energy commodities trader and convenience store network VIRŠI-A AS (hereinafter, Virši) and Latvia-based biotechnology company Alternative Plants SIA have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop a sustainable cosmetic-grade raw material from the grounds of Virši coffee. This collaboration includes research of the effects of chemical compounds extracted from Virši coffee grounds on human skin cells and the possibility of their use in rejuvenating and anti-fatigue body, facial and hair care products.

At the end of September, on the 25th and 26th, Alternative Plants had the pleasure of participating in the HPCI CEE 2024 Exhibition in Warsaw, one of the most prominent events for the cosmetics industry in Central and Eastern Europe. This exciting exhibition brought together leading experts, manufacturers, and innovators, offering a fantastic opportunity for industry professionals to connect, share ideas, and explore new developments in cosmetic ingredients.

For a year already, Northern Europe’s leading cosmetic and medicinal plant farming experts SIA “Field and Forest” have been cooperating with the researchers of Institute for Environmental Solutions and natural cosmetics raw material producer SIA “Alternative plants”. The aim is to use secondary products derived from a production process for developing new value-added products for cosmetics industry.
